2024 Election Integrity Success Story

In 2024, Secure Idaho successfully spearheaded the campaign to defeat Ranked-Choice Voting, a voting scheme funded by out-of-state interests, which would have made it harder to vote, harder to count the votes, and much harder to ensure a transparent and accountable democratic process.

‘Secure Idaho Elections’ Defeated Proposition 1 & Protected the Integrity of Idaho Elections

As members of Secure Idaho, we are proud to report the resounding defeat of Proposition 1 in the November 2024 election. With a clear majority, nearly 70% of Idaho voters rejected this initiative, affirming our belief in maintaining the integrity and simplicity of our current voting system. This victory was not just about numbers; it was a testament to the power of our grassroots efforts in safeguarding Idaho's electoral process from what we saw as an ill-conceived attempt to manipulate election outcomes.

Our campaign focused on educating Idahoans about the risks and complexities of adopting top-four primaries and ranked-choice voting, which we argued would open the door to confusion and potential fraud. We emphasized the importance of our closed primary system, which ensures that party members choose their candidates, preserving the essence of voter choice and party integrity. Through our efforts, we highlighted how Proposition 1 was influenced by out-of-state interests, aiming to shift Idaho's political landscape away from its conservative roots. The response from voters was clear: they valued our state's traditional voting methods over a system that could benefit those outside Idaho's interests.

The financial disparity between our campaign and the well-funded proponents of Proposition 1 was significant, but our grassroots approach, driven by volunteers and small donors, proved that when Idahoans are informed about the stakes, they will stand for their values. We worked tirelessly to ensure that every voter understood the implications of changing our election process. The defeat of Proposition 1 wasn't just a win for Secure Idaho Elections; it was a victory for every Idahoan who believes in the sanctity of our voting system, one vote, one person, without the complications that would have come from this initiative.
